Obituary for Larry Lee Lasyone

Larry Lee Lasyone, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2022. Larry was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma to the late Carroll W. Lasyone and Autumn Fern Thompson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia "Pat" Louise Lasyone. He served his country in the U. S. Navy, retiring after 22 years of service, and subsequently retiring as a service technician from Sears, Roebuck and Co. after another 22 years
Dad enjoyed restoring older vehicles, especially his prized 1967 Volvo 122 S, our family car growing up. As a family, we enjoyed camping, and he and Mom continued to travel early in his retirement, traveling both north and south on the eastern seaboard. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and could fix anything that needed it. Dad loved westerns and had probably seen every episode of Gunsmoke ever made, twice at least. Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons were also television show reruns that he enjoyed. He rarely spoke of his military service but seemed quietly proud to have served our country. To this day, none of us know the details of that service, and he would say that we didn’t need to. Dad loved to work in his yard and continued to do so until just a few weeks ago. His home hospice intake nurse actually met him for the first time working on his lawn. She was his last visitor on the day that he quietly passed away and spoke very highly of him with us afterwards.
Left to cherish his memory are the family members whom Larry loved: his daughter, Michelle Johnson, son, Mark Lasyone, and daughter, Diana Miller, and their respective families. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Mariah Lynne Neighbors, Leslie Anne Johnson, Julia Autumn Lasyone, Christian Alexander Lasyone, Gabriel Elijah Lasyone, Harrison Isaiah Lasyone and Matthew Kyle Miller.
As per his wishes, Larry will be privately laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com in order to leave condolences for the family. Our family deeply appreciates your kind words and thoughts but asks that in lieu of any floral arrangements donations be made to local hospice care in Dad’s name. Hospice care has been invaluable to our family during this process.
