Obituary for Kirby Lynn Johnson
Kirby Lynn Johnson Sr., 71, of Chesapeake, passed away on February 11, 2022.
Mr. Johnson was born on April 5, 1950 in Benson, NC., to the late Kirby Edward Johnson and Bessie Frances Byrd Johnson. He graduated from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, VA. He attended the Church of God in Chesapeake , and it was there that he met his wife Sandra Johnson. In 1968, they married and would spend the following 52 years building a life together with their 3 children.
Mr. Johnson was a hard worker who started his career with Pepsi Co., and ended it as a distributor with Little Debbie. He was well respected by his colleagues and those in the field who knew him.
He spent his free time as an avid fisherman and enjoyed deep sea fishing with his family and friends. He had a love for Nags Head, NC., and enjoyed many trips there with his wife and family.
There was nothing he loved more than his family and getting them together. He always made sure to let everyone know how much he loved them and wouldn't let you leave without getting some "sugar," and a wave goodbye.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra Johnson; son, Kirby Lynn Johnson Jr. and spouse Roni Johnson; two daughters, Catina Brickhouse and Michelle Durden; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his son in-law, Reggie Brickhouse.
The family is holding a Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 20th, 2022, from 1-3pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA.
