On December 29, 2018, Kevin Christopher Edwards died from a pulmonary embolism near his home in Chesapeake, Virginia. Kevin’s devoted wife of nine years, Amanda Westmoreland Edwards, was beside him at the time of his passing. Kevin was born in Walnut Creek, California, on October 15, 1981, to Christopher Carl Edwards and Kari Fitchner Edwards. His younger brother, A.J., will forever remember Kevin’s strength, spirit, faith, and humor. Kevin wanted nothing more in life than to be a Husband and Father. He married Amanda on October 25, 2009 and they have raised three beautiful children, Ryin Cathleen, age 15, Abigail Road, age 6, and Riggs McClane, age 5. The Edwards family’s love of travel led them on countless adventures around the world that are now cherished memories. Kevin entered the Navy on April 5, 2011, and became a Submariner Logistics Specialist, promoted to the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. Kevin’s family, friends, and colleagues are all better because of his shining example as a husband, father, son, brother, friend, and sailor. He lives in us now. His smile, goodwill, laughter, and humanity will never be forgotten. We commend him to Christ. May his memory be eternal.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 2 - 4 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. Military honors will be rendered at 3 p.m. followed by a time of sharing. A gathering for family, close friends, and shipmates will take place at the Greenbrier Country Club, 1301 Volvo Pkwy.
