Obituary for Kerry Lamar Logan

Kerry Lamar Logan, 55, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020. He was born in Concord, CA to Bill and Lynette Logan, and graduated from Monterey High School (class of 1982), where he lettered in swimming. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Cold War, Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and subsequently for NIWC as a Radar Test Engineer. He served onboard the fast attack submarines Memphis, La Jolla and Pasadena. Kerry was a member of the BMW Motorcycle Club of Hampton Roads (past VP), Motorcycle Owners of America, the Riders Association, theR90s Club, the VFW, the United States Submarine Veterans, Inc, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Despite his many busy professional accomplishments and social activities, the peace of a quiet, still morning was what he cherished above all else. As a Boy Scout, Kerry learned to love camping, travelling, gardening, and building furniture. He was a submariner, a sailor, an instructor and scuba diver, photographer, DJ, videographer, a band mate of Flaming Tiger-Eyes, and enjoyed grilling, smoking meat and cooking in general. His love for BMX racing in his youth evolved into a passion for adult motorcycling, and he found a group of kindred spirits in the Iron-Butt Association, an exclusive group of motorcyclists who travel extreme distances in short times. For example, the epic 50CC ride - coast to coast in 50 hours. Kerry did it in 44.42. He criss-crossed the continent many times on motorcycles and was recently awarded the coveted 100,000 mile award from BMW Motorrad in Germany. By his own estimation, he had clocked well over 200,000 miles on BMW motorcycles exclusively. But above all else, Kerry loved his wife Jenn, his daughter Kendra, and his pets, whom he sometimes enjoyed more than people.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 20 years, Jennifer R. Logan; daughter, Kendra Faye Logan; father, Bill Logan and his wife Susan; mother, Lyn Buchanan and her husband James; siblings, Kimberly Logan-Hynes, Kristopher Logan, Kimo Logan; step-siblings, Kevin Jordan, Sandy Buchanan-Johnson, Doug Buchanan and his wife Amy, Patty Bruington and her husband Mike; and numerous extended family members and dear friends. He is also survived by his very special fur babies, cats, Snickers and Major Tom Logan; and dog, Minerva-Jett Logan.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 11 am with a celebration of life beginning at 12 noon at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Rd.
