Obituary for Karen Dee Barham (Fry)
It is with extreme sadness that Dan Fry, Andy Fry and I announce that our incredible and dear sister, Karen Dee Fry (Barham) , has joined our parents, Wayne and Sarah Fry, in heaven. No doubt that, in addition to Mom and Dad, Karen was also met at the pearly gates by her 4-legged kids, Max, Luke and Sky, who greeted her with licks, kisses, and barks. She is finally completely at peace and can now rest without fighting any more battles.
Karen was an extremely loving sister to Dan, Andy and me. The three of us have a memory bank full of fun times with Karen both growing up and watching as adulthood unfolded in each of our lives. Her infectious laugh and the fact that she often cried from laughing so hard, will always be remembered. Karen held onto the Fry family from afar and always wanted to know what was going on in the lives of her nieces, Kelly Fry (Leonard), Kara Richards and her nephews, Brandon Fry, Benjamin Fry, Brody Fry, and Jack Richards, as well as her great-nephew, Teagan Leonard, and great-niece, Maya Leonard. Of course, those that knew Karen were well-aware of her love of dogs of all kinds. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending her time with her fur-babies.
Karen will be remembered as a fun, free spirited and independent person. Karen always believed in being yourself. She was never one to change her ways in order to fit in and had no problem if others chose to “take it or leave it”. We always believed she got her stubbornness and “bull-headedness” from our dad. However, this fierce independence and determination never over-shadowed her loving and caring side. Throughout her years as a Manager at Arby’s, Karen had many “adopted” parents and kids that she came to know and love. She was a “people-person” loved by both her customers and co-workers. She loved to cook for her employees and was known to take in food on a weekly basis for her crew to enjoy and truly enjoyed making the work environment a home for those she worked with.
Karen enjoyed the beach and lived in Willoughby Spit, Virginia, for the last 25+ years. She found the beach to be her home and never wanted to leave. As such, a private service will be planned for that location at some point soon.
