Joyce Ward Philbrick Leffler, 81, of Chesapeake, went to be with the Lord on November 20, 2020. Joyce was born July 13, 1939 in Norfolk, VA and lived most of her life in Great Bridge VA. Joyce was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved spending time investing in her children and grandchildren.
Joyce had a long career in Banking, retiring from BBandT in 2002. She loved traveling, the beach, and everything about Christmas. She spent many weekends at craft shows showcasing her artistic abilities and enjoyed multiple cross-country road trips as well as trips to Europe. Joyce was an avid Duke fan and loved watching and attending games including college sports as well as the many sports her children played.
She was pre-deceased by her first husband of 40 years, Roland Philbrick, her brother Elton Ward and sister Chrystal Frost.
She is survived by her husband, John Leffler; her sister, Martha Sawyer; her children, Scott Philbrick (Barbara), Amy Penner (Jeff), and Emily Williams (Scott); her step-children, Janet Schwark (Brian), Susan Leffler, and John Leffler III (Sandy); 4 grandchildren, Matthew Philbrick, Christina Nicol, Melissa Penner, and Nathan Penner; 4 step-grandchildren, Ronny Hurd Jr. (Katie), Jamie Coeman, Anna Hootman (Michael); 4 step-great grandchildren, Jacob, Addison, Audrey, and Joseph; and many nieces, nephews, their spouses, and their children.
A funeral service will be conducted at Graham Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at 2 pm. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service.
