Joyce Marie Dishman, 85, of Chesapeake, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2019. Born on August 14, 1933 in New Bern, NC, she was the daughter of the late William and Nancy (Boyette) Jones. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roger Dishman, and siblings, Mildred Favaron and William Jones, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Williams and husband Mike, her granddaughter, Jamie Valiani and husband Joshua, her first great grandchild who is on the way, five nephews, and extended family members.

Joyce was a homemaker and lived most of her adult life in the Indian River section of Chesapeake. She enjoyed volunteering for the school system. She loved to travel and had visited all 50 states and Canada. She was also a huge lover of animals, a quality that she passed down to her daughter and granddaughter.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her loving caretaker of almost 20 years, Glenda Jamir. Glenda is an angel on earth, who always went above and beyond to help Joyce - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Glenda understood her unique personality and was consistently compassionate and kind. She led Joyce back to the Lord and continues to be a blessing to our family.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Avenue of States, 6309 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. Pastor Tracy Gregory will be officiating.
