Obituary for Joy Elizabeth Staley

Joy Elizabeth Staley, 26, was unexpectedly called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Born in Norfolk, VA to Bradley Jason Staley and Terri Lynn Taylor Staley, Joy grew up in Texas and graduated from Liberty High School in Frisco, TX. She worked as a server and bartender for several years. Joy was tenderhearted and caring to both people and animals, making a difference in the lives of many. Joy had an endearing sense of humor and quick wit. She liked to read and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved being with her friends and family. Her loved ones will always treasure her gorgeous smile and her loving and caring nature. Joy was loved and touched the lives of many people in Texas and Virginia.

Joy was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Joy Edelblute Staley. Joy will forever be cherished by her mother, Terri Lynn Staley; father, Brad Staley, and his wife Krista; brother, John Staley; sisters, Jenna Staley and Jayne Staley; stepsisters, Lara Blackwell and Claire Chilcoat; stepbrother, Cameron Chilcoat; grandparents; Grady and Judy Taylor; beloved canine companion, Lady; best friend, Dallyn Kemski; and boyfriend, Dylan Westburg. Joy loved Dylan and his dear family very much.

Joy also had many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she loved deeply, and who loved her dearly.

The family invites friends to pay respects on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, from 6-8pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd., Chesapeake. A service in celebration of Joy’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 2pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Klepper officiating.
