Josh Logan Naghiu, 30, of Chesapeake, VA, in his mother’s arms and surrounded by his loving family, earned his Angel wings on Tuesday, May 21 2019. Josh was his family’s own “Super Man” as he courageously endured his last 9 years living with paralysis due to a neck injury at just 21 years old. He was truly an inspiration to everyone's lives he touched. Josh had a wide group of supporters, but had much love for his closest life long friends that stayed by his side through it all. He was courageous, brave, and strong throughout his life. Josh loved & lived for his family. His passion was working as a mechanic in the automotive industry for many years. He loved trips to the mountains of VA where many extended family still reside; spending time out in Pungo, Va Beach, as a child at his maternal grandparents home; and just enjoying nature and the simple things in life. Josh's love for Astronomy was also a big part of his life. On any given day you could learn something new from Josh about our Planet, History etc. Josh was a “Family Man” who adored his young niece Avery, as she stole his heart and many smiles everyday.

Left to Forever Love and Cherish his Memory is his mother, Tracy Naghiu-Chierici; father, Danny Simpkins, Jr.; sisters, Cheyanne Stephenson and Graycyn Stephenson; adored niece, Avery; grandparents Les & La Verne Naghiu; great-grandma, Yvonne Stanley; aunts, Lisa Naghiu, Kara MacWilliams, and Amanda Thompson; cousins, Georgia Baggett, Shelby Baggett, Jacob Thompson, and Jonah Thompson; great-aunt, Carolyn Litchfield and family; great-aunt, Linda Louth and family; great-uncle, Rick Stanley and family; great-aunt, Maria Naghiu and family; great-aunt, Vickey Stewart and family; great-aunt, Elvira Fiel and family; Josh's paternal aunt, Misty Rose and family; and a host of many other extended family members.

Josh is preceded in death by great-grandfather, Richard E. Stanley; great-grandparents, George & Elvira Naghiu; great-uncle, Charles Stephens; great-uncle, James Louth; great-aunt, Anita Stanley; great-grandparents, Carolyn and Danny Simpkins, Sr; and great-grandmother, Dorothy Rosser.

To honor his memory and in lieu of flowers, the family asks to donate to “CHRISTOPHER & DANA REEVE FOUNDATION FOR PARALYSIS” ( There are 1 in 50 people living with paralysis across the US. Josh and his family’s wish would be to educate yourself and others on this life changing injury, and to reach out to a person living with any disability with compassion and a helping hand. Josh's family invites you to celebrate his life on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. Please visit to leave a note of condolence to the family.

I have known from just a little boy and you were always part of our family. We may not have always spent a lot of time together these past couple of years but when we did get together we picked up where we left off and the time seemed to disappear. You have gone through so much these past 9 years. More than anyone should. I will always hold you close in my heart. My heart goes out to your mom Tracy, sisters Cheyenne and Grayson, and the rest of the family. I will keep all of you in my prayers. Your outlook on life even in the worst of time was always strong and you will be the brightest star in the sky. Shine down on us and keep us strong
We love you with all our hearts

"At that time the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. At that time the lame will leap like the deer, and the tongue of the speechless will shout for joy. For waters will burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert plain.”Isaiah 35:5, 6
He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4- And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also he says: “Write, for these words are faithful and true. " Revelation 21:5.
And no resident will say: “I am sick.” Isaiah 33:24. ¹
