Obituary for Joseph David Wilkey Sr.

Joseph David Wilkey, Sr, 81, of Chesapeake, Virginia peacefully passed away on November 25, 2022, after enjoying his entire family being at his bedside for Thanksgiving Day.
Joe was born in Little Washington, North Carolina to the late Edward and Carrie Baker Wilkey. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, George R. Wilkey, J.C. Clark, Floyd Wilkey, Eddie Wilkey, Jr., and his sisters, Bernice Hobbs, and Leona Baker-Wilkey.

Joe was married to the love of his life, Estelle for 61 years. The love they shared was stronger than diamonds. Joe and Estelle were blessed with many things in their marriage. He would tell anyone his biggest blessing was his family.

His Legacy will be carried on by his family including: his wife, Estelle, his son, David Wilkey and his wife Kim, his daughter, Tammy Jo Inge and her significant other, Michael Moranha, his Son, Eddie Wilkey and his wife, Lynelle.
Joe's grandchildren were his pride and joy. They include Kesha and her husband Jason Prim, Brian Wilkey and his wife Jessica, Taylor Inge, Brittany Inge, Alexis and her husband Kevin Howey, and Chandler Wilkey and his wife Lily. He also felt blessed to have great-grandchildren including Marissa Wilkey, Chloe Wilkey, Braden Prim, Blake Prim, and Baylee Prim. Also, a special family member, Oscar Velasquez. Joe is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends who have become part of the Wilkey Family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Calvin Corbett officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be to Best Day Foundation, 1140 Annie Olah Crescent, Chesapeake, VA 23322. This organization held a special place in Joe's Heart because it aids special needs people in water activities. Joe enjoyed knowing this organization helped to bring to a smile to his granddaughter, Brittany Inge, "B."
