John Michael Liptrap, 69, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018. He was born in Charleston, WV to the late Ira B. Liptrap and Myrtle F. Harrison and was one of six siblings. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his step mother Garnett Liptrap. He served his community faithfully for 26 years retiring from the Chesapeake Police Department as a Police Officer Specialist, Warrant Bureau and was a member of the Tidewater Fugitive Apprehension Task Force. He was a member of C.L.E.B.A., FOP lodge #009, and the National FOP. He was a past member of Doric Masonic Lodge #44 AF and AM, Great Bridge Royal Arch Chapter #82, Grice Commandery #16 Knights Templar, and past member of South Norfolk Ruritan Club. He loved hunting and fishing and attended church at Grace Baptist Temple.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 35 years, Debra Liptrap; children, John “Michael” Liptrap II and Sarah Liptrap Curling; grandchildren, Hunter Liptrap, Nathaniel “Nate” Curling and Ella Curling; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 28, from 11:30 to 12:30pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake.
