Obituary for Jessie Ophelia Joyner

Jessie Ophelia Joyner, 79, passed away December 25, 2020. Jessie was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Norton Rhondell Little and Catherine Allen Beverly. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, James E Joyner, III; and brother, Norton Little.

Jessie, worked several years with Kings Food Meat Packing as a packer, but finding her most notable work as a homemaker. She loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. It was easy to find her sitting around the card table with friends playing Bid whist and enjoying a great meal.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving son, James E Joyner, IV; daughter-in-law, Karen Stith-Joyner; granddaughter, Jessica Stith; grandson, Christopher Joyner, and 3 great-grandkids; sister-in-law, Polly Little; a host of nephews and nieces to include Elizabeth Johnson, who was like a daughter to her; extended family members and dear friends.

Due to the COVID restrictions there will be no formal visitation, her viewing will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 from 10 am to 4 pm. at Graham Funeral home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 12:00 pm at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, Virginia with Elder Wayne M. Jones officiating. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence to the family.
