Jean Bashford Melvin, 69, went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2022. She is survived by her husband Mike of 47 years; children, Josh Melvin, Brandon and Angela Mullinix; grandchildren, Hunter Langston, Emma Mullinix, Luke Mullinix and Ava Mullinix. She was born to the late Reverend Theodore and Marion Bashford. She leaves behind siblings, Marion, Charlotte, Linda and Becky and many family members and close friends. Jean spent her life taking care of others and putting their needs before her own. She truly had a servant’s heart. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
