Obituary for James Roscoe Stierwalt

James R. Stierwalt “ Bud” went to be with our Lord, surrounded by his family, Friday February 4, 2022, at 86 years of age. He was born November 15, 1935 to the late Roscoe Filer Stierwalt and Anna Alma Stierwalt in Gosport, Indiana and was a graduate of Gosport High School in 1953. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six of his sisters and his wife, June M. Stierwalt.

He was the youngest child and had seven older sisters. Bud began life as a farmer's son and his “ jack of all trades” knowledge was unending. At the age of 19 he began working for Genral Motors, taking a four year break to serve his country in the USAF as a jet engine mechanic. It was there he began writing the love of his life, June. They were married January 1, 1961 and began their life in Middletown, Indiana. He had two children: Debbie and Kenner. He continued working at GM and doing construction on the side giving him the knowledge, with his family, to build by hand, the three homes they lived in.

Bud retired from GM in 1992 and loved working with wood, gardening, family, and his dog “ Skippy”. Not long after retirement, to keep him busy, he took a job as the maintenance man for Town Park and Rosemont Park apartments in Middletown, In. He enjoyed this job and the many friends he made there. In 2014 he ended this job and moved to Chesapeake, Va with his daughter.

He was an amazing father, role model and teacher of life. He had a sweet, kind, gentle, patient, loving heart and would do anything for anyone, expecting nothing in return. Everyone that met him or knew him loved him. He will be missed by many.

Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his daughter, Debbie Stierwalt Browning of Chesapeake, Va.; son, Kenner Perry Stierwalt of Wilmington, N.C.; sister, Emilee Stierwalt Wallace of Princeton, In; grandchildren, Deena M. Wilson (Johnnie) of Jacksonville, Fla., David James Browning (Savanah) of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and great-grandchildren, Erik Vroegindewey, Zoe Wilson, Hayden Browning, and Ledger Browning.

There will be no service at this time.
