When God made Roy, He threw away the mold. There could only be one Roy! He was unique with his stories and friendship. I am so sorry we did not find out about his Homegoing until Sunday, but you are in our prayers.

Back in the 60s my dad sold Roy land on Jury Rd for him to build his home for his wonderful family. He and my dad were very good friends for the rest of my dad's life. Roy was an icon in our rural community. He was indeed a most enjoyable social neighbor. He shared so many great stories which were sprinkled with humor My last visit with Roy was for 4 hours in my front yard as we enjoyed our decades of memories. Thank you Roy for my childhood and adulthood times that we shared. You will be remembered and missed .

Mr Spencer was like a second father to me. His daughter ,Tricia and I were best childhood friends growing up in wonderful Hickory. He worked very hard and loved his family, told great stories and made us laugh. When he growled we also jumped but only for a second. We knew his bark was bigger than his bite. He knew he was outnumbered with four daughters, His wife , Sue and mother in law, Nana , Yet he would still let me get in the station wagon and Tag along with them to church, pioneer girls etc. I was blessed to have many of my childhood memories with all of the Spencer family.
