James William Pennington, 78, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. He was born in Smyth County, VA to the late John Luther Vinton Pennington and Hattie Emma Rowland Pennington. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his son, James William Pennington, Jr.; daughter, Robyn Renee Wallace; brother, Vinton Ray Pennington; sisters, Pearl Blevins, and Linda McElhanon. James served his country in the U.S. Navy and subsequently retired from D.R.S. Technical Services as a Production Manager.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Kathleen Brinkley Pennington; son, Timothy Michael Pennington (Kelly); four grandchildren, Olivia Pennington, Ashleigh Wallace, Adam Pennington, and Laurence J. Wallace; brother, R. Wayne Pennington; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 2-4pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd. Chesapeake. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 11am at Woodland Heights Baptist Church, 529 Providence Rd. Chesapeake with Dr. Ken Barnes officiating. Burial will take place in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery, Suffolk.
