Obituary for James Roy Morrison, Jr.

James Roy Morrison, Jr., 93, went home to be with the Lord on January 18th, 2019. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia U. Morrison, his second wife, Lula D. Morrison, and his only sister, Katherine “Sis” Repass. He was the son of the late James R. Morrison, Sr. and Clara F. Morrison. Born in Norfolk on August 10th, 1925, Roy was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Corps and later retired from the Virginia Credit Union League. An avid reader and music lover, Roy was also a great outdoorsman and athlete, who especially enjoyed fishing, football, and golf. He was very involved in church and civic activities for many years. Granddad loved spending time with his family and enthralled them with stories from the past. He took pleasure in introducing his grandchildren to games, activities, and nature, and always had a joke and a smile to share. He was very loved and will be greatly missed.

Roy leaves behind his beloved only child Nancy M. Nowak, her husband Michael, and their children: Sharon (Bryan), Daniel (Courtney), Beth (Richard), Christine, Matthew (Amanda), and Katherine, as well as extended family and friends. He was glad to know his great-granddaughters Charlotte and Portia.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lafayette Presbyterian Church, 1821 Lafayette Blvd, Norfolk. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Please visit his Book of Memories at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a note to the family.
