Obituary for James Richard Martin

James Richard Martin, 66, went to be with the Lord on Saturday July 17, 2021, following an extended illness. James was born in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Samuel and Alice Booher Martin. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army before starting his 43 year long career as a welder, working for almost every shipyard in the area before retiring from General Dynamics after 32 years. He was a man of faith, attending several churches in the area before finding his home at Chesapeake Baptist Church. James was ordained by God and attended Tabernacle Bible College. James loved his very large blended family and it was his biggest accomplishment. James has 11 children, 41 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

The family is inviting family and friends to pay respects on Friday, July 23, 2021 for visitation located at Graham funeral home from 4pm to 7pm and Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Chesapeake Baptist Church at 1pm with a service to celebrate his life beginning at 2pm with Pastor Matt Nettesheim officiating. Following the service the family asks you to join them in fellowship at Chesapeake Baptist. The family is asking for anyone attending the fellowship to please bring either a side item or dessert.
