James Reginald “Jim “ Hester, Jr., 76 passed away after complications of COVID-19. Jim was born in Robeson, NC to the late James R. Hester, Sr. and Mrs. Aminia Elise Johnson Hester. Jim was a faithful member of Kempsville Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. He retired as a banker with First Union following his retirement, he drove a school bus for the Virginia Beach Public Schools.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bonnie Langley Hester; son, Stephen Hester and his wife, Deborah; daughter-in-law, Kay Hester; sister-in-law, Brenda Hester; five grandchildren, Danielle, Davis, Ross, Caroline and Camille. Jim was predeceased by his son, Rev. James R. “Reggie” Hester, III and a brother, Luther Wayne Hester.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions temperature checks and mask will be required to enter the building; guest are limited to ten at any given time. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Kempsville Baptist Church, 5204 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach with Dr. Kelly Burris officiating.
