Obituary for Iris Marie Mott
Iris Marie Mott passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 in Aurora, CO. She was born May 1, 1931 in Norfolk, VA to the late Edward and Josie McDowell. Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Mott in 2008. She was the proud mother of two daughters, Iris Rae Stephenson (Bud) of Port Clinton, OH and Josie Sparger (Kent) of Aurora, CO; her pride and joy grandchildren Mandi Snyder, Chelsea (Dave) Slate, Blake Sparger (Hailey Gray), Kaitlyn Stephenson and two great-grandchildren, Lex Gonzalez and Jayla Slate. She is also survived by her brother Larry (Mitzi) McDowell of Hazelton, ID.
Iris really enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, church and neighbors and was well known for her sense of humor, love of music (and shoes)! She loved playing games with her grandchildren!
Iris was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, VA. Private services will be held for the family and close friends at a later date due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19.
The family extends a thank you to Chelsea Place Memory Care of Aurora for the care she was given while there for 2 years and a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Denver, Colorado for their ever constant care and compassionate attention given through some of her most challenging days. Also, our family’s gratefulness to Ryan Moore from Graham Funeral Home for handling long distance arrangements; transporting our Mother home and compassionately accommodating all of our wishes during this very difficult time.
