Inez Poole Long, 98, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022. She was born in Person County, NC to the late Keene A. and Mary Frazier Gillis. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her first husband of 48 years, James Carlton Poole, Sr.; and daughter, Renee P. Gossett. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sherrill Steininger (Steven), Donna R. Poole, Carol P. Avery (Jim), Allene Tanner (Rick); sons, James C. "J.C." Poole (Melanie), Larry W. Poole (Susie); son-in-law, Byron C. Gossett; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild. Inez was also predeceased by her second husband, Rev. W. Carlton Long, and is survived by his children, Dr. W. Meredith Long (Kendra), Rev. David C. Long (Ginny), Joanna Figley (Stephen).
Inez has left an incredible legacy of faith and trust in her Savior. She was a student of His Word until her death. Her life was characterized by her patient listening ear, deep love of people, and warm hospitality.
The family will receive friends Wednesday April 27, 2022, from 4-6pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd. Chesapeake. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 11am in Forest Lawn Cemetery, followed by a memorial service to celebrate her life at 1pm at Tabernacle Church of Norfolk, 7000 Granby St, Norfolk, VA.
