Obituary

Howard E. Brooks, Sr., 89, went to be with the Lord Monday, July 20, 2020 at his home in Virginia Beach. He was born in Pantego, NC to the late Charlie Jackson Brooks, Sr. and Annie Tetterton Brooks and was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Brinn Brooks. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corps and subsequently retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. Howard was a longtime member of Gateway Free Will Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his sons, Howard E. "Eddie" Brooks, Jr. (Anne) and Keith Eric Brooks (Dayla); grandchildren, Emily Phillips (Wayne) and Marc Neppl (Casie); great-grandchildren, Shawn, Conner, Ashley, Joe Joe, and Nathan; sisters, Lois Slade, Elva Respess, Nelva Swinson, Patsy Rose; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Monday, July 27. 2020 at 11am. A service to celebrate his life will begin at 12pm with Pastor Brent Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.
