Obituary for Herman Waverly Crocker

Herman Waverly Crocker, 92, of Chesapeake Virginia, went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2022. A native of Henderson, NC, he was the son of the late Alver Newton and Miriam Faulkner Crocker. He was the retired comptroller of Marva Maid Dairy in Newport News. He was a faithful member of Indian River Baptist Church since 1959 and was ordained as a deacon in December of 1962. He taught the King of Kings Sunday School Class for many years and the Young Adults class prior to that.

He is survived by his two daughters, Debra C. Speight and her husband, Edward Bertram of Chesapeake, and Denise C. Armbruster and her husband Terrence of Virginia Beach, four grandchildren, Mark Edward Speight and his wife, Summer, Megan Elizabeth Copeland and her husband Randy, Mary Elizabeth Armbruster, and David Edison Armbruster, 5 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Annie Elizabeth Pearce Crocker, 3 brothers, James Thomas, Oliver Newton, and Weston Hoyle Crocker, and sister Myrtle Crocker Blanks.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Indian River Baptist Church on March 17, 2022, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bert Kirk and Rev. Robert Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Indian River Baptist Church, 1600 Laurel Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23325.
