Obituary for Harvey "Hal" Lee Hyatt Jr.

Harvey "Hal" Lee Hyatt Jr., 73, passed away May 8, 2021. Hal was from South Norfolk and raised in Alexandria, VA. He was born to the late Harvey L. Hyatt, Sr. and Olga Dowdy Hyatt-Dyer. Hal was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Joseph "Joe" Dyer. He was known for his generosity, big heart, and warm spirit. He was also a hero to his family and loved helping his community.
Hal taught Sunday school at Raleigh Heights Baptist when he lived in South Norfolk. He was a current and active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Chesapeake and spent his final days in Fredericksburg near his brother.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving brother, Robert F. Hyatt and sister-in-law Cathy Hyatt; nephews, Jesse and Robert Hyatt; daughters, Stephanie Parker and Kristen Stone and son-in-law Robert Stone; beloved granddaughter, Alyssa Stone; longtime friends Linda Berend and Ellen Parker; and a host of other family and friends.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 12 noon at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Pastor Tracy Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. Hal accepted everyone as they were and in his honor you're encouraged to dress casually.
