Obituary for Floyd H. Davis Jr.

Floyd Hampton Davis Jr., 62, of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away peacefully in his sleep on 3/31/2020. He ultimately succumbed to a heart condition that he had been battling for several months.

Floyd (AKA “Jr.”) was born 10/31/57 to Floyd H. Davis Sr. and Dorothy (Lieland) Davis. He is survived by his long-time partner and love, Cindy Jones, his sister Betty Davis, and two sons Cody Davis and Aaron Davis.

Floyd grew up in the Acredale section of Kempsville in Virginia Beach. He attended Kempsville High School where he was an excellent all-around athlete and especially baseball player. He loved all sports but baseball was his favorite and he was a life-long Yankee fan. He spent many of his early adult years traveling the country as a door-to-door salesman before settling down back in his home town of Virginia Beach. He and Cindy made their life together in Chesapeake and he truly loved his home and family. He worked most of his life self employed as a locksmith for his company Davis Security. He took great pride in doing his part to make local neighborhoods safer. His favorite thing to do was spend time at his camp at Lake Gaston relaxing with Cindy, playing with his 3 dogs, and working on small projects. The “lake” was without a doubt, his “Happy Place”. He enjoyed playing golf, listening to music and laughter. He had many life long friends who he kept in touch with regularly, loved many of his neighbors, and was especially close to the Johnson family (Mike, Bobbi, Michael, Robert and Jessica). Floyd had a strong faith and he gave God all the praise for every blessing, both large and small. He trusted God and was grateful for every day.

A celebration of life service will be held at Graham Funeral Home but unfortunately will be by invitation only. However, it will be streamed live on 4/10/20 at 1:00pm.
