Obituary for Florencia Llamelo Rioja

Florencia Llamelo Rioja “Mama Flo” of Chesapeake, was called to her eternal rest by our heavenly Father on September 29, 2022 at the age of 67. Florencia was born on November 10, 1954 in Santa Rita, Guam to the late Pedro Gamiao Llamelo and Ana Mendiola Crisostomo. Her mother passed at a very early age and she was raised by her step-mother, Concepcion Mendiola Crisostomo. She now joins her grandson Jadon Rioja Watson; her two brothers, Antonio Crisostomo Llamelo and Marcelino Llamelo; and her sister, Margarita Llamelo Diza. She retired at the Naval Exchange in Guam, January 2015 and moved to Chesapeake, Virginia to live with her oldest daughter. Florencia was a fun loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend to all with an enormous heart. She loves chatting on messenger with family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren, listening to Chamorro music, shopping on Amazon, cooking Chamorro foods, baking, and playing games on her iPad.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, son, Peter Anthony Llamelo Rioja, (daughter in law) Jennifer Umbrero Rioja; daughter, Salve Rioja Hernandez, (son in law) Arturo Hernandez; daughter, Felisa Ann Llamelo Rioja, (son in law) Joseph Watson; her grandchildren, Fantaysha Lyn Umbrero Rioja, Austin Keinen Umbrero Rioja, Destiny Kiara Hernandez, Trevin Jace Umbrero Rioja, Naiya Devani Hernandez, Ethan Rylee Umbrero Rioja, Kristian Rioja Knight, Miguel Arturo Rioja Hernandez, Stephen Lance Umbrero Rioja, Julius Jadon Rioja Watson, Giselle Kataleya Hernandez, Ava Skylar Hernandez, Serenity Ailani Hernandez; her brothers, Jose Crisostomo Llamelo, Francisco Crisostomo Llamelo, Juan Crisostomo Llamelo; her sisters, Rosita Llamelo Poblete, Ernestina Llamelo Concepcion; and numerous extended family members.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. for a Catholic Wake. A Catholic Prayer Service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
