Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Gall

Elizabeth Ann Gall, 80, passed away January 4, 2023. Elizabeth or affectionately known as "Liz" grew up on Chicoteauge Island, Virginia Her parents were the late Marvin and Gladys (Williams) Merritt.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 62 years, Ralph C."R.G." Gall, Jr.; daughter, Cindy Renea Gall; son, Ralph C. Gall, III and his wife Shannon; grandchildren, Chase C. Gall, Cailin M. Gall; sister, Gladys Faye Merritt Fitchett; sister in law, Winnie Rose Gall Barrett, and numerous extended family members and dear friends.

Apple of her eye: grandchildren: Chase and Cailin; Both born on the same day, 3 years apart. It is not possible for anyone to love her children, grandchildren any more than she did.

We subsidized the Post Office….cards (with a gift) and packages. And later with tablets, smart phones: morning texts and emails were the first items of the day. Liz was active in the church, food closet, meals on wheels, visiting shut ins, visits to friends in nursing homes, hospitals, providing transportation to doctor appointments, and, and..…Her home made lasagna was enjoyed throughout Chesapeake.

Wore the tires off the Prius ! She could not provide for everyone’s wants, but it did not keep her from trying.

If other children in the world had been raised by Liz, the evening news would consist of crafts, cooking and evening weather, if you get my drift.

January 4th. I was hope recuperating from a broken hip. My son called me from the hospital. He said to come there asap. So, daughter and I went. When I arrived they were moving Liz from ICU to a private room. 7:30PM a Chaplain came in. He began with Jesus' portion of John,

“there was a mansion reserved for her,
that He was preparing a place for her,
I will receive you unto myself” .......

Liz was unconscious, barely breathing. Now her breathing changed, a small eye opening, hand movement. She heard, she knew. We heard, we knew ! 7:40PM Liz had gone with the Prince of Peace

You are something wonderful
I know where you are.
I know how to get there.
I would like to have another 62 years honey.
