Eddie Lee Poppell ,73, passed away August 3, 2021. Eddie was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late C.L. Poppell and Lura Nell Harnage Poppell and was a 1966 Great Bridge High School graduate. He worked Civil Service for many years as a Heavy Crane Operator at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard until the birth of his daughter, Tonya, when he retired early to become a full time dad. Eddie loved his family, loved Jesus, and loved contact sports as well as Boxing, football and Nascar racing. He leaves a legacy of love to carry his torch as he rest with his Savior.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 38 years, Jenny; their much beloved children, Tonya Urey and husband, Josh of Virginia Beach; step-son, Ian Gordon and his wife, Carla; grandchildren, Sarah, Joey, Ayden, Stephen; and great granddaughter, Samira. As well as his much loved mom, Lura Nell; his brothers, Ronnie and wife, Cathy of Aulander, NC, and Donnie of Cofield, NC; brother-in-law's, Tommy and Joseph Patrick; sister-in-law, Charis; many beloved cousins, nephews, nieces, family and friends, and his beloved little dog Gizmo.
