D. W. "Jack" Stallings, Jr., 72, passed away January 27, 2022. Jack was born in Pinetops, North Carolina to the late Dempsey, Sr. and Madeline Mears Stallings and was a graduate of East Carolina University. He was first a PE teacher before finding his place as a sales rep in the floor covering industry where he spent the rest of his life wheeling and dealing. Jack's ability to make a deal served him well in making him a good salesman and many friends over the years. He never met a stranger. The industry gave him opportunities to travel to the Caribbean and around the United States.
Jack loved fishing (especially in the Outer Banks), trains, gardening, and playing cards with family and friends. He collected coins, pottery, glassware, and Hallmark ornaments. He liked cruising, especially to Alaska and Europe and vacationing in Las Vegas and the Outer Banks. He loved sports, especially baseball, basketball and football; however, his greatest love was his family. He was very proud of all of his children. Loyal and protective of them, no matter what.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Debbie Stallings; daughter, Mary Stallings; sons, Brian Stallings and Erik Stallings (Geoff); grandchildren, Sabrina Belongia (Kenny) and Mackenzie Miga; great-grandson, Kayden Belongia; mother-in-law, LaVerne Uransky; and a host of other family and friends.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Pastor Jonathan Fischer officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in his memory to the Eliza Hope Foundation - an organization that held a special place in his heart.
