Delbra Williamson Moore, 63, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, October 25, 2019. She was born in Valdosta, Georgia to the late John Delbert and Frankie Davis Williamson. She earned her Master of Science in Education degree from Ohio State University and taught private school and homeschool for nearly forty years, particularly enjoying American history and literature, biology, and world history. Always eager to learn, she curated over 250 linear feet of books and frequently referenced them in the classroom and dinnertime conversations. Her curiosity fueled her passion for travel as well; Ecuador, Japan, and many parts of Europe were among her favorite places to visit and those trips in turn inspired her own creativity. She was an avid textile artist and often worked on several projects simultaneously. Her work was featured in magazines and exhibitions.

Delbra’s creativity, knowledge, insight into people, and strong faith drew people to her; she had a knack for distilling seemingly overwhelming problems down to manageable size and delivering sought after advice with warmth and quick wit. The greatest joy for her family was to, as often as possible, gather around her table for a feast of food and love. Conversation and laughter went for hours, and her gift for finding humor in everyday and even trying situations made being with her a highlight of the day. As her family grew, the highlight for her was having her baby grandchildren tucked in amongst the adults seeing what a loving atmosphere on this earth should be.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 39 years, Lester L. Moore, Jr.; daughters, Kristen Murrer and her husband Brandon, Valerie Moore, and Kathryn Moore; granddaughters, Aida, Lia, and Miriam Murrer; brother, Keith Williamson; uncles and aunts, Shelton Davis and his wife Elizabeth, and Joe Davis and his wife Sandra; and numerous extended family members, dear friends, and “honorary” daughters.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 6pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd. Chesapeake, with Rev. Dr. Brian Campbell officiating. A time of fellowship will follow in the Reception Center at the funeral home. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to . The Moore family,
Sorry for your loss. Our neighbor will surely be missed. One of my fondest memories of Delbra is when both of us happened to be out in our yards at the same time. I told her that we were having problems with moles in the yard. She proceeded to tell me that we had voles, not moles. She gave me all of the information about voles that is available. After that, she told me the species of all of my shrubs, plants and trees and their detailed characteristics! It was obvious that this was one of her passions! She was a kind gentle lady. I will miss seeing her go for her walks. Rest in peace.....
