Obituary for David Gene Thompson
David G. Thompson a resident of Portsmouth VA, age 62, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday afternoon surrounded by his family and friends. He was an active employee of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a sheet metal Mechanic and supervisor.
He attended Indian River High School and graduated in 1977. David was a loving Son, husband, father, brother and friend. He was an active member of One City Church, Chesapeake. David loved Taxidermy, his favorite past time was fishing and hunting, where he spent many good times with his hunting buddies at Cemetery Ridge Hunt Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Thompson; mother, Faye H. Hoggard; daughter, Vickie Smith (J.R.) and grandchildren, Devin, Kayla, Kaden, Alana and Christian.; step-children, Mariha Tinoco (Wilfredo) and children, Isabella, Sofia, Adrian; Ryan Deline (Chris) and children, Ryker and Kody; Blake Deline and Damien Deline; brothers, Pete Thompson (Deborah) and Wayne Thompson (Carolyn); and sister, Mary Ann Sarvis (Jeff).
David was predeceased by his father, William Joseph Thompson and grandchildren, Erick and Alex.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake.
A service will be held Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tommy Smith officiating.
