Obituary for David Gene Morgan
David Gene Morgan, 80, passed away August 30, 2021. David was born in Iowa City, Iowa to the late Walter Glenn and Mildred Elva Spillman Morgan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Glenn Morgan. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 26 years until his retirement as a Senior Chief.
He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, spending time with his family, gardening, using his handyman skills to help others, and all things Iowa.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Deanna; children, Lisa Morgan Webber, Rebecca Morgan, Deborah Morgan Samec (Matthew), and Carole Morgan Swope (Thomas); grandchildren, Luke Webber, Anna Samec, Mercy Samec, Noble Samec, Valor Samec, Jubilee Samec, Shepherd Swope, and baby boy Swope (due in December); siblings, Susan Morgan Moore, Maurene Morgan, Michael Morgan (Janet), and Nancy Morgan Thompson (Jeff); nephews and niece, Shawn Moore, Shannon Moore Gardner, and Cody Thompson.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 2 pm at Colonial Baptist Church, 2221 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. He will be privately laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
