Obituary for David Reed Livers

David (Dave) Reed Livers, 45, of Chesapeake, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2021 in Suffolk, VA. He is survived by his mother, Joan Harper (Keith); father, Ricky Livers; brother John Livers (Natalie); a son, David Reed Livers II and his mother Alicia, and several other family members and many friends.

David was a kind, caring man who touched the lives of many people with his compassion and his awesome hugs. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. His friends have shared that he was a good listener who would try to help them solve their problems only to never seem to overcome his own troubles and the demons that haunted him. His struggles, accompanied by poor decisions, seemed to pull him out like a riptide, only to swim out of it for a short while, and then get sucked back out again.
David was an extremely intelligent, personable man with a knack for fixing just about anything if given enough time to figure it out and was very meticulous with details. He was an adventurous thrill seeker never seeing the danger in trying something new. Even as a young boy, he prided himself on the thrill of learning or trying the craziest stunts or tricks on his skateboard, snowboard, and bike. He enjoyed off-roading with the “Beast”, his favorite mud truck, loved to write metal music and play his guitar. He loved playing with and spending time with his son, Reed, who was the pride of his life.
He was a good cook, but nothing plain would do, as each dish he would prepare would be loaded down with a huge selection of extra spices until he had just the right flavor combinations. At family gatherings, he and his cousins would have fun seeing who could eat the hottest food.
David’s life could have been so much more, but was cut short… he was certainly not perfect, as none of us are, but there was a point in David’s life where he realized things weren’t right between him and God. David trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, thus he received God’s forgiveness of his sins and the free gift of eternal life. That changed his heart and the direction of his life. David still struggled and unfortunately made poor decisions but in his heart, he knew the Savior, always being remorseful for his misdeeds. He is now with his Savior but will give an account of his life; however, we read in God’s Word (Romans chapter 8, verses 38 & 39: “for I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
