Obituary for Daniel Lawrence "Danny" Curling

Daniel (Danny) Lawrence Curling, born May 27, 1957 left this world August 22, 2022, after a long and courageously fought battle with cancer. Danny was a lifelong bachelor who devoted his life to his family. He dearly loved his nieces and nephews and became fondly known as Uncle Danny to many extended family and friends as well, an endearment he was most proud of.
Danny and his brothers formed Four C Construction, a commercial electrical contracting business, in 1986 where he served as president until his retirement this year.
Although he was a master electrician by trade, he was a man of many talents and skills with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that was always his pleasure to share.
A passion for drag racing led he and his brother Hugh to build a race car together that would be the start of Curling Racing, a family race team consisting of Danny, Hugh, and Hugh’s family. It was a hobby that brought him much joy through the many memories and scores of friends made.
Danny lived his entire life in his boyhood home on Pocaty Road, built on land originally part of his grandfathers farm. He often spoke of fond memories of following his grandfather around as a young boy. These memories, close to his heart, fueled his desire for his most recent and final project, designing and building The Barn at Pocaty Farm.
Danny touched the lives of many through his loving and generous spirit, a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
Danny is rejoicing in heaven with his parents Horace and Sarah Curling. He is survived by two sisters Faith Fairchild (Russell), Cathy Curling, three brothers Donnie Curling (Zelda), Alan Curling (Carol), and Hugh Curling (Wendy), nephews Jeremy Curling, Justin Miller (Candice), Christopher Fairchild (Jennifer), Benjamin Fairchild (Edith), Christy Lassiter (Clint), Caitie Monroe (Dylan), Carey Curling (Britney), Brittany Brayman (John) and great-nieces and nephews, Nate and Ella Curling, Jacob and Mariah Lassiter, Waylon Miller, Alexis, Lauren, Karis, Emily and Jackson Fairchild, Brehlynn, Corbin and Lenny Brayman, and Makenna Curling. Plus many extended family and countless friends.
The family wishes to thank everyone who visited, texted and called during his illness.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to Wanda Wyatt and Comfort Care Home Health and Hospice for the loving and tender care that made his last two weeks as easy as possible.
A celebration of Danny’s life will be held Sunday, August 28, 2022, at his farm, The Barn at Pocaty Farm located at 1808 Pocaty Road Chesapeake Virginia 23322 at 2:00 in the afternoon.
