On Monday, July 19, 2021, Carol Ann Shiflett, a loving wife to her late husband Ray Lewis Shiflett, and mother of three sons, Allen Ray Shiflett (Barbara), Jeffrey Lewis Shiflett (Sheila), and Arvin Dean Shiflett (Melissa), passed away at the age of 76. Carol was born in Wilmington, NC, to the late Charlie and Lyda Mae Mills and was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Fay Mills. In addition to her children, Carol is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Mills, Jr. (Helen)
Carol had a sweet and caring soul. She loved spending time with her family, whether she was cheering her sons on at the racetrack, cooking a hearty Thanksgiving meal or Easter Day brunch, or just lounging around watching heartwarming Hallmark movies with her beloved Rat Terrier Sammy and one or more of her six grandchildren or five great-grandchildren.
Although Carol dedicated her life to her family, she also made a career in the meatpacking industry. Carol was an all-around amazing person. She’d always have something insightful to say if you were feeling down and could come up with the wittiest comments that’d make you really laugh out loud.
Carol was adored by friends and family members alike. Her grandchildren admired her so much so that the rather-fitting nickname “Angel” stuck. She was not only Carol Shiflett, but she was and will forever be, Angel.
The family is inviting friends to pay respects Monday, July 26, 2021 from 4pm-8pm Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd. Chesapeake. A funeral ceremony will take place at the funeral home Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 1pm with burial following in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
