Obituary for Brenda Halstead Godfrey

Brenda Halstead Godfrey passed away August 28, 2021, at the age of 70. Brenda was the daughter of the late Charlie and Freida Ford Halstead. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Douglas Lee Godfrey, in-laws, Buddy and Marjorie Godfrey and brother-in-law, Roy Evans.

Left to cherish her Christian testimony is her husband of 51 years, Dr. M. Lee Godfrey, III; her son, David Charles Godfrey and his wife, Rhonda; grandchildren, Stephanie Godfrey, Katelyn Godfrey, Brooke Riley and her husband, Jeremiah, and Benjamin Godfrey; and three step grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Makarewicz, Jeannie Dixon and her husband, Mike, Charlotte Boone and her husband, Mike; her brother, Lawson Halstead and his wife, Becky; sister-in-law, Sandra Evans; brothers-in-law, Lonnie Godfrey and his wife, Dale, and Markham Godfrey and his wife, Susan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a true faithful witness to HIS SAVING GRACE to all that met her and watched her testimony. She was always in support of the ministry that she and Lee served the LORD together over these past 50 years. Her motto was “I will work to Jesus comes, or HE calls me home with the statement, well done my good and faithful servant."

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. At Fairview Baptist Church, 1204 Tatemstown Road, Chesapeake with Dr. M. Lee Godfrey, III and Rev.
