Beth Ann Denny Ryan, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Norfolk to Raymond L. Denny and the late Bonnie MacDonald Denny, Beth was devoted to her family. She was a Brave for life, graduating from Indian River High School where she met her high school sweetheart. She later returned to Indian River High School as a dedicated educator, teaching countless students Earth Science, volunteering at school events, and serving as department chair during her 33-year career. She was a part of Mary Ann Wood School of Dance for 43 years where she began as a student and later taught as an instructor. Beth showed off her artistic flair through scenery work for their dance productions. Her determination and strong-will, even until the end, inspired everyone that knew her.

Besides her father, left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 32 years, Alex Ryan; her daughter, Abbey Voltz and husband, Christopher Voltz; sister, Kathy Staton; nephews, Kris and Keith Staton; childhood friend since Kindergarten Beth Herrington and a host of other family and friends.

The family wishes to express gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff of Comfort Care Home Health and Hospice for their care and medical expertise.

A service to celebrate Beth's life will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. Due to COVID restrictions temperature checks and masks will be required to enter building; seating is limited. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
