Bertha “Beth” S. Gower, of the 1200 block of Butts Station Road, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Beth was born in Norfolk County, VA to the late Elisha W. Sanders and Iris “Thelma” G. Sanders. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 38 years, Leonard M. Gower, Sr. and her son, Leonard “Len” M. Gower, Jr. Beth worked as a Branch Manager for Wells Fargo and Jefferson National. She was a long-time, active member of Bethel Baptist Church where she taught the “Willing Workers” Sunday school class for many years.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Meri Beth G. Griffin and her husband Brent, Melanie G. Woolard and her husband Ted, and Stanley “Stan” W. Gower and his wife Rochelle; grandchildren, Benjamin “Ben” E. Woolard, Amanda C. Jones and her husband Eric, Ariel G. Sawyer and her husband Owen, Asa B. Griffin, Brittany E. Taylor and her husband Corey, Shelby M. Gower and Sydney L. Gower; great-grandchildren, Kennedy N. Jones, Clara G. Sawyer and Macon S. Taylor; siblings, David M. Sanders and Wayne R. Sanders; and a host of other family and friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Mr. James Sawyer officiating.
