Obituary for Bernadine Faye "Bernie" Bryant

Bernadine Faye "Bernie" Bryant, 88, passed away October 23, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Virginia Beach. Bernie was born in Trout, West Virginia on August 16, 1930 to the late Arnie Thomas Morrison (Odell, Arkansas) and Florida Tallahassee Clevenger Morrison (Trout, West Virginia). Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Omar Wayburn Bryant (Hughart, WV), who died on November 8, 1991; brother, James Adrian Morrison, who died in 1971; sister, Mary Olive Vokes, who died in 2001; and half-brother, Calvin Harold Clevenger, who died in 2007. Bernie graduated high school at Williamsburg, WV. She resided for 50+ years at 2606 Chesapeake Avenue in Chesapeake and was an active member of South Norfolk Methodist Church where she worked the food pantry and newsletter before she was no longer able to attend due to health issues. Bernie was a Breast Cancer survivor and was diagnosed with dementia in 2012. Bernie worked as the Supervisor of Automated Services for Virginia National Bank before retiring in the mid-1980's. She loved to travel with her family and was the family genealogist. Bernie was a Redskins fan and loved the music of Neil Diamond and Kenny G.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Thomas Franklin Bryant and wife, Roxane; daughter, Joyce Lynn Bryant; grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn Cary and husband, Ronald, Wendy Arlene Garringer and husband, Mark, and Kirk Bryant Densmore and wife, Lisa; great-grandchildren, Mariana Garringer, Nathaniel and Natalie Carey; plus a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to: The Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
