Barbara Annie Beck Harris
Barbara Annie Beck Harris, 90, was born in Norfolk, Va. She was the daughter of William McKinley Beck, Sr. and Lucy Theresa Beck. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Joseph Gerald Harris, Jr., one brother, William McKinley Beck, Jr., and two sisters, Margie Beck Speros and Kathleen Beck Weir.
Barbara was a graduate of Maury High School. She was a member of Grassfield Baptist Church. She was a member of Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer for the Chesapeake Care Clinic.
Barbara was the Student Financial Aid Advisor for the Norfolk General Hospital School of Nursing for 20 years. She also worked 11 and a half years for the Chesapeake Volunteers in Youth Services of the Chesapeake Juvenile and Domestic Court Service Unit.
Barbara leaves her four children, Michael S. Harris and wife Jackie of Creswell, NC, Patricia H. Finch and husband Wayne of Chesapeake, Va., Phillip A Harris and wife Susan of Hertford, NC., and Susan T. Harris of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Graham,Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA with Pastor Tracy Gregory officiating.The committal service will be private.
