Almer “Bud” Seden Atwood, Jr. passed away October 10, 2022, at the age of 84. He was born in North Tazewell, VA to the late Almer S. Atwood, Sr. and Velma Mundy Atwood. Bud served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He retired as a regional director with Hapag-Lloyd Shipping Lines. Bud was a member of Rosemont Christian Church, Chesapeake; He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman where he enjoyed camping, and fishing in the mountains and at Lake Gaston.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn Bowker Atwood; his son, Dr. Ronald Atwood and his wife, Becky; daughters, Michelle Atwood Kidd and Mary Lynn Atwood Pinkerman and her husband, Kris; seven grandchildren, BJ Crook and his wife, Sarah, Christian Atwood, Ashley Crook, Brooke Kidd, Gabby Atwood, Cody Pinkerman and Alexis Pinkerman; two great grandchildren, Nolan and Grant Seden Crook; and his sister, Mary Atwood Logan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dan, Wayne, and Ronnie Atwood; and his son-in-law, Kent Kidd. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Westminster Canterbury Hospice for the kind, compassionate care rendered to them and Bud.
