Evelyn Ruth Brogden, 89, of the Homestead area of Virginia Beach passed away November 6, 2018 at her residence. Evelyn was born in Pitt County, NC to the late Snowdy and Laura Dixon Hardee. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, William F. Brogden; sisters, Louise Mazie and Edna Mills; and her brother, James Hardee. Evelyn retired as the Bakery Manager with Giant Open Air Market and was a member of Azalea Garden Church of God. She loved shopping, yard sales and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa L. Fentress and her husband, Robert; her son, Jeffery F. Brogden; sisters, Callie G. Buck and Barbara Cates; three grandchildren, Christi Fentress, Haley Brogden and Amber Roberts; and many, many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A funeral service to celebrate her life will begin at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Cheryl Moore officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.
