John Wright  Watson
John Wright Watson, 93, went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2018. He was born in Dozier, AL to the late Wright and Pearlie Sasser Watson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Lou Watson. John helped with the family farm in Alabama until he decided to join the US Navy in 1943. During his military career, John proudly served during WWII, the European Operations and the Pacific Theater Operations. He retired after 22 years of service as a First Class Petty Officer. Following his military career, he later retired from NARF as an aircraft mechanic after 20 years of faithful service.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Roger Wayne Watson (Sondra), Sandra Kay Watson Gross (David) and Keith Alan Watson (Caroline); 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rueben "Bud" Alvin Watson and Bobby Rex Watson; sister, Ethal Lucile Lowery and numerous other loving family and friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 1p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. M. Lee Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Monday April 16, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to Fairview Baptist Church.
