Obituary for Matthew Thomas Koontz
Matthew Thomas Koontz, 48, passed away on March 19, 2018 in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Matthew was born in Norfolk, VA to John and Mary Downing Koontz. He was a graduate of Western Branch High School and Tidewater Community College and received his Master's Degree in criminal justice from New Mexico State University. Matthew was a former law enforcement officer for the City of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. He also served as a member of the SWAT team for the City of Norfolk.
Besides his parents, left to cherish his memory is his sister, Nicole M. Kittrell (Evan); brother, Michael P. Koontz; and nieces, Sydney and Hailey Kittrell.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach.
