Carmen J.  Scolamiero
It is with great sadness that the family of Carmen J. Scolamiero, 94, of Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on November 16th at Lighthouse Pointe Retirement Community, Chesapeake, VA. Carmen was born on April 2, 1923 in Rio Pedras, Puerto Rico. She was preceded by her late husband, Louie Scolamiero, son, Joseph K. Scolamiero, and sister, Ida Doucette.
Carmen is survived by her children and spouses: Martha (Dan) Wanca, Anchorage, AK; Louise Liddle, Port Republic, VA; Marie Scolamiero, Tampa, FL; David Scolamiero, Virginia Beach, VA; Ralph (Lynn) Scolamiero, Linden, VA. “Nana Carmen” is loved and will be missed by her 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation with family and friends will take place on Tuesday, November 21st from 10:00 - 11:00am with a Celebration of Life at 11:00am at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA 23320. Immediately following the service there will be a reception. The Burial Service will be at Hampton National Cemetery at 100 Emancipation Drive in Hampton, VA at 2:00pm for those who wish to attend.
While residing in the Ocean View area of Norfolk, Carmen worked as a Medical Technologist at Norfolk General/Sentara Hospital and attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Besides caring for and raising 6 children, she enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She loved to dance and was an active member of Riptides Square and Round Dance Club.
In memory of Carmen, flowers are welcome or a donation may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
