James Ray Holcombe, 71, of Chesapeake, passed away surrounded by family on August 18, 2017. James retired from Century Concrete in Virginia Beach after 38 years of service. He was a proud US Army veteran of Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient and a past Governor of Loyal Order of the Moose, Chesapeake Lodge. Besides his parents, Charles and Mary Holcombe, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara, Judy and Roslyn and brothers, Charles Jr. (Sonny) and Randy.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Joyce Holcombe; daughter, Ginni Respess; grandson, Shaun Respess; granddaughter, Kristin Respess; sister Doris Kronwitt; brothers, David Holcombe (Linda) and Wade Holcombe; nephew/son, William (Billy) Stone; son in law, David Respess; brother in law, Rudy Murden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St., Norfolk.
