Anne Morrison Gilbert went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2017. Anne was born in Norfolk, VA on April 30, 1924 to the late John and Ellie Morrison. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Howard “Gil” Gilbert; sister, Mildred M. Culpepper; and brother, Aubrey Tomlinson. She retired from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the Public Works Department at 40 years of service. Anne was a devoted servant and lifelong member of Rosemont Christian Church, taught Sunday school, bible study, served as a Deaconess and sang in the choir for 70 years. She always lived a life of love and was an inspiration and encouragement to others. She loved God and her family which was the best gift a family could receive, she will be loved and remembered forever.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Donald M. Gilbert; her daughter, Terri G. Amuial (Jacob); 4 grandchildren, Alisa Miller (Brad), Joey Amuial (Minna), Amanda G. Lipsky (Darryle), and Melissa G. McArthur (Tom); 6 great-grandchildren, Jake, Josie, Ema, Mia, Ava and Athena. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Harbourway at Atlantic Shores for their love and affection.

The family will receive friends at Rosemont Christian Church, 3505 Bainbridge Blvd., Chesapeake on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 12 to 1 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will begin at 1 p.m. at the church. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. At the request of the family in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rosemont Christian Church.
