Leonidas A. DeFord, Jr., 58, passed away April 2, 2017. He was born to the late Lois Roache DeFord and Leonidas A. DeFord, Sr. Having been raised in Hickory he loved farming; L.A. loved fire trucks and had visited many fire stations with Charlie Hall and his dad. He also enjoyed music and very much enjoyed Gary Lewis and the Playboys. He was a graduate of Kirk-Cone Rehabilitation Center with the Chesapeake Public Schools. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Delwyn Hutto and her husband, David; numerous cousins; and his roommate, George Martin. To his extended family at Hope House and the staff of Shoney's at Battlefield his family would like to say thank you for all the love, kindness and patience shown to him over the years; as well as the caregivers of Kindred Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 6 to 7:30 at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1633 Benefit Road, Chesapeake.
