Solon Rudolph Murphy, 87, passed away March 11, 2017. Solon was born in Norfolk to the late Solon T. and Mary Ansell Murphy. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Gene Murphy; and nephew, Doug Leary, Jr. Rudolph was a long time member of Rosemont Christian Church, he retired as the owner and operator of Murphy's Grocery in Portlock.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Rochelle Leary Gardner; brother, Robert "Bert" Murphy; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 12 noon at Riverside Memorial Park, 1000 Indian River Road, Norfolk.
