There wasn't much you could count on in high school, but I could always count on Mr. Coates greeting me with a smile and those teasing words. For those of you who haven't met me, I am almost 5'0". My reply was always, "Get off of that chair!" because he was SO tall. I will also remember how kind and fair he was. How much he seemed to care about his students and to love his job! I'll also remember him driving his Model A car.
